I often use a biggish one instead of my favourite but it's still pretty & my favourite blue & white.

Oh! And here I was thinking it might be Chinese ~ but you know more about these things than I do.

I suffer with the same issue. The hand is the giver of food. Therefore the beak must be withdrawn to optimal striking distance in case a tasty morsel is inside.

‘Striking distance’ is the optimal description for Tegan. She’s a ‘smash ‘n’ grab’ kinda gal so hand-feeding her is painful!
