MJ's little flock

One of my daily reminders in my phone is "slow down, it's a marathin not a sprint" 9am that one goes off. 10am is "don't eat chocolate" sometimes it's already too late 🤭
I have never heard of a don't eat chocolate alarm before. Is there a story there that you are comfortable sharing?

I'm sure I posted about discovering they snore.
I had Ruffles sitting on a clutch in the house nest box. The nest box is about five metres from my bed. It's incredibly quiet here at night. I had been timing her turning her eggs and eventually fell asleep, pen in hand.
Something woke me and I could hear a strange sound coming from the living space. I though maybe there was a wild boar outside grunting. Got out of bed and checked outside. Nothing. Went back to bed and as I was about to fall asleep the sound started up again.
Sounds like that, dripping taps are a good example, have to be discovered before further sleep is possible. I lay in bed trying to locate the sound. I didn't turn the light on this time when I got up to follow the sound. I got as far as the computer chair, a metre or so from the nest box and the sound was definitely coming from the nest box. Of course it stopped as I tried to get closer as Ruffles woke up.
Back to bed. I lay there listening and after a while the sound started up again. This time I just called to Ruffles and told her she was snoring. Ruffles did a bit of egg rearranging and I went off to sleep quietly chuckling to myself. I told all the others the next day that Ruffles snores so loudly she woke me up.:D
Tackle snores as well but she's more of a raspy whistle.
I do not remember this story. That is just awesome. 😆 🤣

Here's my Tuesday breakfast. I zoomed out so you can see Peggy and Mary ready to go to the vet. I'm too worried about Peggy's digestion. And Mary hasn't been to the vet for a while so she's in the Support Chicken, Just Getting a Checkup role.

Peggy has been admitted for liquid feeding. I think this is a good option for her. I'm hoping it turns her around.

Mary laid an egg while travelling in the car! So we gave it to Dr Hill. She passed her checkup with flying colours! Trouble is, I'll have to bath her again because she spent the night sitting in the basket, which means she had to poop in her butt fluff. It's messy back there.

I've got such a lot of chicken news today.

The latest is that I received the quote from Lady Tradie for the covered run and accepted it.

It'll be 36.5m2 in a U shape with a tree in the middle of the U. The bottom of the U will be 1m away from the back fence so that a paved path can be put in all the way around.

After the path is paved, I'll turn my attention to building a new open coop within the covered run.

Very pleased to have received the quote at last :)

I hope Peggy picks up soon. You are so lucky to have an good chicken vet so close by.

Since everyone is sharing dinner, I thought I would too. The only thing not farm raised was the bagel and cheese.

The sausage was from a friend's pig that she raised. My neighbor grew the potatoes and of course the eggs are from my girls!!

How far off her weight was Peggy?

I'm so happy Mary is doing well. 🥰
