Unfortunately I was unable to get a photo of her snoozing because every time the car stopped moving, she perked up and I was not confident to take the photo while driving.
Very responsible of you.

@BY Bob I'm a little perplexed there are no avian specialist vets near your house. It's a good business opportunity for a vet. I wonder why it turned out like this? Is vet science an unpopular career choice? Is avian specialist education too expensive? What are your thoughts Bob?
It became very out of fashion to attach emotions to animals but I think anyone who's really paying attention understands they form friendships & deep bonds.
My cats are older rescue kittens. They saw a lot of animals leave & never return before I got them so when I had to take Kirby to the vet Marlow lost it. He grieved deeply, thinking, I am sure, he would never seen his bonded brother again. When I brought Kirby home again, Marlow's joy & relief were evident. Kirby, who had had a chicken wishbone removed from 1/2way down his throat, was less enthusiastic!
Same with the chickens. They have the ones they prefer to roost next too ~ & those they avoid. There are some odd friendships; Lottie & Tuppence for example. Ha'penny is more likely to run with Luna or Hepzibah.
This part of what attracts me to them. This complex bond they have with each other. When Lilly, the bully of my flock, returned from Santa on Saturday, they all rushed over to see her. It was sweet.
Then she bullied them all on the roost.
Go figure.![]()
I love how she went all the way home, a 30 minute drive, facing backwards!I love hens in cars! It's a thing now. She looked so comfortable. Those are great pictures. I still love that basket.
Ah I see. That makes sense. This is still primarily a farming area. Farmers do not spend money to care for a single hen. They cut their losses. Pet chickens are not really a thing here yet. I just don't think there is a market for an avian vet. I alone cannot support one.
I'm looking forward to your next shot of your alfa!I love hens in cars! It's a thing now. She looked so comfortable. Those are great pictures. I still love that basket.
