He is excellent. We should all be so lucky. That's some vet you have there.![]()
So happy she is being taken care of and that you got to bring them homeThe news
Both hens are staying overnight.
Peggy needs to provide a usable poo sample.
Janet is having surgery to remove a lump of pus before it damages her bone any further.
I'll collect them both tomorrow.
I'm so lucky! And if he ever goes on holiday there are another two avian specialists within an hour's drive. That's some vet you have there.![]()
This morning I can see Janet's face lump has completely gone but there's still something in her eye partially occluding her vision. She's got another week of lincospectin so perhaps it will clear up as the week passes. Her surgical wound was closed with special glue and they cleared out her sinus by running sterile water through her nasal cavity while she was under. Her eyelid is a little swollen (to be expected after being cut open) but the swelling went down by half overnight so I expect it will have cleared up by this evening. So glad you could bring them home so soon. It's less stressful for all of you.
How are they? (and how are you?)![]()
That's good to know. Thanks for mentioning it!Very good that you are getting that cleared out for her. Certain infections in that area can be quite dangerous depending on the bacteria or fungus involved.
That's good to know too! This is great - I love learning new things that will improve my chicken husbandry! There are also places where the antibiotic has trouble reaching. There are areas especially in the sinuses where this can be a problem. Once he clears it out, she will be fine. Good job getting her there.
In the end, she was only pranking meHooray!good job Mary!
Are there no avian specialists in your nearest capital city? It seems odd to me when Adelaide is not a huge population and we've got a few to choose from.He is excellent. We should all be so lucky.![]()
