She was beautiful Shad. Looks like a dove to me, but with a lot more fighting spirit it seems! No. This is Donk's mum. I've been going through some pictures on my chicken hard drive.
Dink was an extraordinary hen. Every night she would go up the Magnolia tree and every night I would get her down and carry her to her tribes coop and put her on the perch. The only nights this didn't happen was when she was planning to sit, or it was pissing down with rain. It broke my heart when a hawk got her just a couple of feet from safety. Dink had earlier in her life survived a hawk attack and spent the night (I couldn't find her) hidden in a bush with a gash across her back as wide as my hand, not to mention the small cuts from the hawks talons.
Dink would fight anybody, including roosters. My nighttime treat was holding Dink after I had got her out of the tree.
So, here she is. She doesn't look very fierce does she.
Dink with a very young Donk and Donk's sister Dent.

That sounds yummy. I've never had it.My youngest made us "omurice" for dinner and it was very yummy.
Omurice is a Japanese dish which is basically a savoury rice like paella with an omelette folded over the top and a dash of tomato sauce.
Cas wrote "love" in Kanji on top with sauce.
It was so lovely I felt the need to skite! Made with eggs laid by Alice, Pepper and Edwina.

The one and only Donk. I've spent more time looking for Donk than I have for any other hen.
Donk is as wild as they come. I beleive she could easily survive on what she can forage. She will eat things that other hens won't.
She's a stocky little hen so it's quite surprising she holds the longest flight record here. I have never managed to catch her during the day. She's lighting fast. She'll happily eat out of my hand. She'll often come and bug me for treats.
Both her mother, Dink and her grandmother cheepy were on the wild side. Donk's mum Dink holds the undiscovered nest record here and is the only other hen apart from Mel who I know has fought a Goshawk and lived to tell the tale.
