MJ's little flock

Ah, you might be in for a bit of a wait because it's coming from England. Last time I checked the shipping it was on its way to Manchester airport, poor thing (my very least favourite airport ever).
I ordered a tea pet from China a month ago. It has been saying "departed country of origin" for 3 and 1/2 weeks now. 🙁

I know you are going to ask why I didn't get a chicken tea pet. It just seems a bit mean to pour hot tea over a chicken, but a water buffalo would like it.

I love your cup MJ but I’d be too scared to use it!

I’ve got a book that’s nearly 100 years old; it was my grandmother’s.
I've got an old book too! It was written by a former governor of South Australia (James Penn Boucaut) and it's all about Arabian horses. Talk about niche!

What's your grandmother's book about?
Ooh, ooh! I can join this club!

It has the amateur feel of a school magazine. It's a lovely bit of history.
I believe they have an original copy in the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

Aww, that's cute ❤ I don't drink tea, so what exactly do you do with it? Sorry if it's a silly question 🤷

Not at all. I didn't know either until I looked it up.

It is part of the tea ceremony (which I don't know much about). You rinse the tea leaves for about 10 seconds and pour that water over the pet. This is to clean the leaves I think as they are handpicked. Then you refill the pot and drink your tea. Any leftovers in the cup or pot can be used to "feed" your pet.

Over time the pet will build up a glaze from the tea. I thought it was a lovely way to help me slow down and enjoy a cuppa. ☺

There are lots of different pottery tea animals. Including rude ones, like a little boy peeing. I would not find that relaxing though. 😅

Thank you for explaining it to me, that's really a lovely idea 😊. I agree with you that a boy peeing would not be very relaxing. I would probably be laughing too much 😅
