Did she ever catch one? Peggy did once but it got away, leaving her with a mouthful of feathers to spit out.

No, unless you count a mallard. She once rode on the back of a mallard duck trying to peck it in the head. That was a sight. She also chested a mallard into the pool once. She never got a song bird though.

Mid summer the year before last the humidity here kept up in the high eighties for weeks with temerature 35C to 42C. It was horrible. Couldn't breathe when I went outside.

That sounds unbearable.
