MJ's little flock

I was worried about Peggy yesterday. She didn't have much enthusiasm for food, which was unusual. But today she's keen as mustard again and making excited noises over the little bits and pieces she's foraged. I'm thinking her liver might've played up again?

Phyllis had that for a while last molt. Those head feathers can't be worked by their beak. I think they either need a friend to help or shake their heads enough that they fall off eventually.

I love seeing them on the bench. Great photos.

Yep! It's the keratin sheath. They can't really reach it to peck it off, sometimes mine help each other out, but it usually comes off after a bit and a few good dirt baths.

Yes, here is Maggie’s spikey do when she was finishing up her molt.

Mary has this problem too.
Thanks for the reassurances guys. I just feel my fingers itching to help them along! 😬

We all have bad days. Maybe something she ate the previous day did not agree with her. It is good to be observant and notice these things.
