I love her. She's a darling. She's going to be four years old next year and she's doing well, although she doesn't lay much any more. Only 19 eggs so far this year.

Are you in the US or Australia? I'm guessing the US. Most Aussies buy pullets at the point of lay, although there are lots of breeders too. The hatcheries mostly service the egg and meat industries. The US Australorps look very different from the Australian! Like a leghorn type but larger and black.

I live in NH, USA. Got the Australorps because of their great egg laying ability. They are so pretty and said to grow larger than most other chickens. Not in it for the size but the eggs. I love to hang out with them.

Mary is quite large,she comes to my knee and has the most beautiful iridescence in her feathers. I shared a photo a couple of posts back that shows her green iridescence and also how big she is when compared to her friends.

Ohhhh it's been long. And cold and rainy! It's one of those weekends when if I don't work right through, I'll be too far behind on Monday. So I'm squeezing my weekend into Friday evening. The woodfire is burning and the slippers are snug and comfy.
