MJ's little flock

My plan for this weekend is to get the ply needed to make the sides of the roost box and have it cut to size, another right angled bracket, and two more ornate brackets for the second roosting bar. I also need to visit a distant fodder store to stock up on probiotics.

Time permitting, I'll see how well the ply sides fit by clamping them in place and if needs be, I'll make any slight adjustments with the jigsaw. Then it can be taken down again to be painted on the outside and have its lino stuck to the inside.
Sounds like a reasonable plan. I hope it worked out OK for you.

We've had very wet, cold and windy weather the last few days with Janet not fully feathered yet. The new driveway gates have been damaged in the strong wind (there was a tornado not far away) and someone is coming to see to it this morning.

Anyway my point is that the hens have been put off their food. They'll bounce back but they haven't been eating enough lately.

Has anyone else ever seen chickens off their food when the weather turns?
I feel like I have seen that but I don't monitor their food intake as closely as you do. I have no specific event to reference for you. I wish I could help more.

So far so good Bob. Only one sheet of ply turned out too small, so I'll double check the measurements to work out if I measured wrong or if it was cut wrong.

The other three are the right size.

I've started painting the outside of the sheets and will keep on with that for now, then I'll mount the sheets, fill gaps, and adhere the vinyl tiles.

Shad thought they'd be fine, so I'm not overly worried. They're not acting hungry but I'll give them egg and salmon at lunch time.

Excellent! I'm so glad. I hope they messed up the cut and not you the measurements. :fl

Well, I measured three times to make sure but I can't guarantee I did it right.

By the way, the hens are eating again, so that's good. They're scratching up shoots and bugs and i saw Ivy take a snack of pellets. I hope to see usual number of normal sized poops tomorrow morning.

That is good news! I'm glad they are back eating.

Janet's feathers are slowly growing in.

Another fuzzy photo. She does not trust the camera and prefers to be on the move whenever I hold my phone up. I think maybe she was dazzled by camera flashes before she came to live here. The other three don't mind the camera at all.
