Yes, it's feathers everywhere season!

I've just been outside working on the roost. I filled a big gap between two sheets of ply where I'd failed to measure carefully enough. Next weekend it'll be dry, so weather permitting, I'll sand, wipe and paint it.

It's been inching forward all this time. The trouble is that I don't have much time and nor do I have skills or experience. So it's taking a long time.

I don't believe their current living situation requires immediate adjustment. I think you have all the time you need.

That's true. My patience with Edie and Katie living in the sleepout is thinning, but I don't want to move them to the big coop with the four hens (unless they decide to do it themselves). So I'll wait until the new roost is ready before moving them out.

Janet's eye is improving, it seems the swelling is reducing and she's more lively. But now it's her turn to start the heavy part of her moult.

Mary is nearing the end of her moult, her new feathers are filling out. Peggy's moult is completely finished and she looks fantastic. Edie's new tail has started poking through. Ivy is now dropping her wing feathers and her new body feathers are a wonderful deep gold and her tail is blacker than before. Katie and Christa seem to be replenishing a few of their breast feathers. Joyce needs to drop and replace almost every feather, I don't know how she's keeping warm, but it's just not happening.

Everyone is eating well and seem to be thriving, except for Janet's eye.

And I haven't seen an egg in weeks. I've eaten my stash and will be eating out for breakfast next weekend.

Good news on the whole, but we need pictures .

I know just what you mean.
Sometimes it takes an experienced eye just one look to know exactly what to do, when it takes me days of thinking around and not be sure I will be able to do what I want and If I'm able to do it. It's very frustrating ! This is why I've come to rely too much on my partner

Poor darling. I feel for her. There were so many of her feathers scattered this morning.

Sometimes it takes an experienced eye just one look to know exactly what to do, when it takes me days of thinking around and not be sure I will be able to do what I want and If I'm able to do it.

Yes! It's very frustrating. And the mistakes are so disappointing.

In other news, after two nights of baiting the trap with peanut butter, the Georgies are not even tempted.

Jan proved me wrong and gave me a clear shot of her bad eye.

She only has two tail feathers left. Today I haven't seen or heard Janet sneeze. I've seen her taking a bath, eating and drinking, and chasing the youngsters. She had a good dinner, roughly 5 minutes eating the evening mash.

I find George’s American cousins like a bit of wild bird seed scattered on their peanut butter.
It is a trick Kris actually taught me and it has been unfailing (so far).
