I do the NYTimes one (they acquired it from the Irish guy who invented it). I have only had 2s a handful of times. Somehow it makes me feel a bit cheated of the rest of the game!

As an inexperienced, but enthusiastic builder I am really looking forward to seeing the new roost and the design details you set up.Poop boards really. Removable to harvest poops for compost and easy cleaning.
We're in very different climates, you and I. My place is Mediterranean and it can get rather hot in summer but winters are always mild. So I made a three sided raised box and I got someone to roof it. Now I'm thinking about the half-floor. The idea is that the perches will be in the back half of the box, for greater rain protection. So the box only needs a floor in the back half. It'll be quite a high floor for easy cleaning and to accommodate water and food below. The hens will have a stack of tree stumps to climb up to the floor on one side and I might provide a ramp especially for Mary on the other side, she's not a great climber. And I'm going to make one narrow but very high perch for Janet because she loves being up high by herself at night. As an inexperienced, but enthusiastic builder I am really looking forward to seeing the new roost and the design details you set up.

That sounds great! What I like about building for chickens is thinking about and puzzling out what will work based on my setting and what I think the chickens will like. We're in very different climates, you and I.
