I'm so sorryMiss you and everyone as well, he's still not feeling better. Hoping, they tell us something this week.
Fingers crossed!Janet's sneezes came back quite excessively last week, so this week the flock is on probiotics again. Soluble probiotics formulated for birds are in the water dispensers and I've been adding kefir to the evening mash.
She's picked up very quickly this time and is much brighter on day 2 of treatment than she usually is.
It's always a balancing act because the others develop loose poops and become listless on probiotics. I tried separating Jan by keeping her in the big coop alone all day, but Mary stood as near as she could get to her for hours, so I gave up and let Janet out.
Anyway, I'll keep going with the probiotics until Sunday. Hopefully that'll give Janet a strong advantage for a while and hopefully the others will be ok with their digestive challenges until then.
Smart changes. Good work. Also, I made two small changes to the layout of the big coop and it has reduced roosting tomfoolery considerably.
The food is further away from the door. Folks have to be well inside to tank up.
The water is further away from the door. Same outcome.
This means the doorway is mostly unattended which gives Katie and Edie a chance to sneak into the coop without initiating a flurry of pecking.
She's bounced back quickly this time. I'm not too sure what triggered her relapse. There was a lot of rain. And I saw mouse poop in the feed one day, maybe she ate some? But rain is often a trigger for her. In future I'll try to get her on probiotics before a rainy week and see how she goes. I'd better write myself a note ...Fingers crossed!![]()
