Tonight, I crossed the Rubicon and carried both Christa and Janet into the big run.

Janet twice made a move to come into the run of her own accord and twice went back in to the big coop. So I thought she was ready and would respond well to a little encouragement. Also, somehow she's not mucoussy just now. The warm weather has made a huge difference to her health. She re-attached herself to the flock and comes bowling forward if there might be treats on offer. Somehow she is stable. After soooo long with nasty bacteria over-growth. Hopefully we'll have a few more warm days to help her stabilise even further.

I parked Christa in the little coop again and I put Janet on the highest point of the youngster's branch, which is out on the very end. She hopped off and walked around a little before deciding she'd be most comfy in between the two youngsters. Then she had to discipline them a little. But it was all over in moment as it was almost completely dark by then.

I can't quite stretch to cameras in the coop either. It's too ... I don't know, technical and out of step with essence of chickens.

On the other hand, I genuinely appreciate Bob and RC's in-coop videos.

I know. I was just being silly.
It is a ridiculous thing to spend money on and I wasn’t in favour of the idea. And yet here I am!
I swear some of them ham it up for the camera. Or maybe they see their own reflection in the lens and that is why they are so interested.

This morning's report from the Poop Detective: three Christa poops near the roost in the little coop, none in the nest; Janet's poops in one pile between the youngsters' poop piles; Mary was in the travel basket because she has a follow up appointment for her eye this morning, so most of her poops will be in her butt fluff; Ivy and Peggy's poops were not piled up, they were scattered all over.

Is it elementary my dear Watson? Yes. Ivy and Peggy were unable to settle down without Mary.

Mary's back from her appointment and she had a very full checkup. Her eye was looked at through the special torch. Her heart was listened to with the special stethoscope. Her feathers were inspected for signs of mites or lice (none at all). Her feet were inspected (no problems). Her insides were squeezed (A-OK). Her throat was looked down with the special torch (perfectly normal). Even her butt fluffs had a trim.

She's a seemingly very healthy chicken! No signs of any problems!
