MJ's little flock

I know, right! She didn't say it was at a Palace!

Oh, yes, the Duke invited me over to discuss theories around gaming music.

Geeze @LozzyR more info next time.
Ok, so have to clarify. :D That wasn’t the venue, I was just walking past on my way to the venue. The sun was shining, it was a beautiful morning and the sun was catching the water drops spraying off the fountain. It was a mindfulness moment and I wanted to share.

I had a great weekend, very inspiring and lots of networking. I did a lot of walking and my legs are killing me. I’m back home now and looking to set some things in motion.

He was a very lucky horse to run the grand national without falling or losing his jockey. I watched his race and the weather was awful, the mud was deep, every horse except two fell or lost riders. The ground was so soft, incredibly no riders or horses were injured. Loose horses were all over the place. Red Marauder was one of the two to safely negotiate all the jumps and all the loose horses and all the mud and all the rain. He won in a very slow time. The horses who came in 3rd and 4th were re-mounted after falling halfway through the race and had an easy canter around.
That's amazing! Good for him.

It was an amazing effort by Red Marauder. What a champion.

But ... how to put this politely... It's a rather old-fashioned sport.

They've done a lot of work to make the obstacles more jump-able in recent decades, with sight boards and clear ground lines to help the horses take off at a safe distance from a jump instead of taking off too close or too far out, but it's still not great. They could limit the field. It would be a lot safer if only 10 horses (for example) were allowed to start.

It would be perfectly safe if they cancelled it altogether, but that's not easy to achieve when the people who live and breathe horse racing have siblings and cousins who are MPs responsible for making the laws. It's also not easy to achieve when so many are employed in the horse racing industry and the grand national is the race so many people watch and enjoy.

I'm immensely enjoying this new phase of all the hens being under the same roof in the evenings! I haven't had this much luxury since before the pullets arrived, which was almost a year ago.

Next weekend I'll start to rehab the sleepout and big coop. The big coop is going to become bike storage until it's needed for quarantine/hospital/hatching. The sleepout will return to being a storage room and I'll be able to retrieve the old dining table and chairs from the storage unit (and save on that expense).

I also want to start making the run more fun for the hens with bales of hay, a mirror, and things like that.

And this morning I was reading Perris's post on Shad's thread when I thought perhaps a second roosting box...??? But that's a project for way in the future.

Finally, I'm loving the picnic table which is so comfy and just the right distance from the run that I can see everything but I'm too far to intervene.

That table is gorgeous. What a rich looking stain

Oh that looks just wonderful!

Although it doesn't match the pergola, it echoes the floorboards inside. Also I doubt there's a stain to match the pergola's grey-green, and if there were it wouldn't make for uplifting dinners 😂
Oh don't worry about colour matching. A bit of chickens shit on the table will soon tone down the colours.:p
