MJ's little flock

Delighted to note Mary is looking wonderful.

Another week or two and I'll make her appointment for her implant.

Almost back to bowling ball!

Also delighted to say chicks and hens were in the run together all day for the first time, but not mingling yet.

When I left for work I thought Peggy was going to hop the little fence into the kindergarten and do her worst. Then I remembered she's never jumped those puppy play pen panels. And I thought well, maybe everything will be ok.

And it was!

I was wishing Shad's thread happy third birthday and noticed this thread recently passed 3000 pages, so I got to wondering how old is it? 5.

600 pages/year works out to 1.6 pages a day. That's a lovely pace.

Not too fast.

Not too slow.

Thank you friends!

Thread speed is a real issue.

@RoyalChick having read about Bernie's crop on Shad's thread, I just wanted to remind you that Mary's slow crop was due to a GI obstruction. Surgery revealed the obstruction to be a protective fat lump around a hernia, which Dr Mark reduced as much as he could before repairing the hernia. So, like I usually do, I think it's wise that a beloved hen sees a good exotic species vet when she's not well, in case it's something that requires images and surgery.

Just sharing a thought that hens are so charming and cute its easy to become enamoured of them, but then affective empathy increases the risk of anthropomorphising them. I struggle with this and keep trying to remind myself to respect the chicken-ness of everyone who lives in the funrun.

Yes, this is why I don't post much on your thread Shad. You don't need yet another person adding to the traffic. I read every post on your thread though, and sometimes I learn something new.
I've watched a few threads run out of control over the years. Working ones way through 10 pages or more per day is not what I'm interested in given much of it is just chat or people trying to respond to every post.
I try to respond to those posts that ask a direct question and read the rest leaving a like or whatever.
I've been lucky on my thread most people seem to understand that a little chat is fine but pages of one line responses just ruins the thread. It may get lots of posts but I'm more interested inpost quality than quantity. Your thread and Ribh's thread run at a good pace and I read both, plus a couple of other slow cookers.
