Mmmmmmm PEPSI Throwback

I always pictured you as more of a mandolin player anyhow

Oh Yes, I'm a player. I've broken many a Mandolin's heart. You know how I do it???

Ply them with some of that Southern Coke, Speak in a Southern accent, and force them to listen to Harmonica music.

They are usually crying broken heartedly before the first course arrives.

<- That's what they look like

Imp- I will grant you this, doing a great job stealing Boeing from us.

Downunder if we're talking in general we call it Soft drink or Fizzy drink, but if we're being specific we just use the name on the bottle (not the brand) : pepsi, fanta, sprite, lemonade, pub squash, mountain dew, solo, creamy soda, LA ice, pasito...

To me:
Coke means coca cola and all its varieties: coke, coke zero, vannilla coke, diet coke, cherry coke, decaf coke...
Soda means Soda Water..
Cola is the cheap nobrand coke/pepsi knockoffs.

Amen Sonja! One side note is that Soda can also mean Bicarbonate Soda, but other than that your list is perfect for this Texan.

Sometimes things just shouldn't' be "improved" on...........yay for the Pepsi throwback - now if only they would keep it and put stuff back in bottles instead of cans and plastic again...........longing for the good old days......................

Because sugar is more expensive and would put a dent in their profit margin, who knows maybe people are getting the hint that fructose corn syrup is terrible for your health

Nope, DH confused the heck out of me when I first moved here by calling it "soda". He insisted I try it when I had bad heartburn one night. OMG, I'll never do that again! Made me sicker than a dog.

anybody remember the old Coke chests with the built in bottle opener on the side
When I was a little girl my father would laugh at me trying to open the bottle with that thing , my feet would be completely off the floor and it still wouldn't open

And breakfast to me in high school was one of those cherry pies in the wax wrapper and a Coke

There's an old-fashioned type store in Asheville, NC that still has one of those. Or did, last time I was home.
