Skeeter - you can post a "wanted" ad in BST. If someone has them, they will respond. Having an additional area is not required to accomplish your goal.

I think the scenario he is describing is having a spot to come check if anyone has welsumer eggs. If you post I want welsumer eggs and welsumerwendy only comes on site once a month if she doesnt look through a whole months worth of buy sell trade she may neve know that egglessbob wants to buy her eggs.

If a page was available to check egglessbob could check under wesumer and send welsumerwendy an e-mail today instead of waiting a month for wendy to check and possibly not even see egglessbob needs something to put under his broody hen who he had to allow to hatch out ANOTHER batch of Silkie eggs and extra silkies should be avoided, but since he couldn't contact welsumerwendy he has silkies instead.

MDBUCKS - that's exactly what I'm trying to say.

I guess we could go to one of those egg swap sites, but I was thinking we might be more comfortable dealing with our own members.

Looks like the moderators don't think it's a good idea, though.

I would have to agree with the main powers that be that the current forum page is sufficient. If members want to post their contact and what they have in a post, people could use the SEARCH function and find them by picking the buy sell trade forum and key words.

A important point was stated with:

we might be more comfortable dealing with our own members.

That is a relatively major issue. Our members can be anyone. From 10 year old kids to professional scammers. All we know about anyone is what they volunteer to the people on the board. There is a feeling of trust and closeness among many members and this can lead to many fiascoes since nobody controls who signs up, and we can only ban those who have offended after the fact. We all must remember that personal dealings with others on an open public forum like this is at the discretion of the individuals themselves.

That being said. Buyer beware.​

I never said it wasn't a good idea. I am very open to fresh, new ideas. I simply pointed out that what we have available on the board already covers this, as well as many other sites. I don't think it is necessary to add another area just for swapping info. Using the BST forum, Breeders/Hatcheries section and SEARCH and you will find what you need. If not, then nobody has it. Even if someone does raise the breed you like..it doesn't necessarily mean they will have what you want when you want it.
