Modern Langshans

I do have one male that I am very fond of. Clyde, he's the patriarch of my entire flock.

Roodrigeuzpoultry, I just posted a comment on your other thread. I said I was happy to have found someone that was as passionate as me with this breed. Plus I read the whole thread.

lol! There's nothing quite like a good Langshan. The whole breed seems to me, as a whole, laid-back yet intuitive. Good egg-laying capacities and males get to a nice size.

When I wash a bird, I want a fight and then a gradual "ahhhh" moment by the bird.

I blame Forrest entirely...

Edited to add, please! Call me Ropo!

Rodriguezpoultry, Love your pics you posted. My blue Langshans seem to have Longer Leggs with a very thick body then my Blacks. When I take pics I'll let you be the judge on it. I'm gonna get my son to hold a measuring tape behind him to see how tall he is. They look just like yours but the leggs just seem bigger and longer. Hard to tell in pics though. When they stand at a full erect stance, my blue males looks like they are pushing close to three foot tall. I need too measure for sure but it sure looks like it. I'm 6ft tall and they are past my knee caps.

My blue cock I'm not too fond of. It's what happens when you try and raise a bird in natural light in the Oklahoma winter. His son is much taller and has more length to the leg. Little Mister, the cockerel is definitely going to be a looker when he's finished. I'm hoping he retains the body of his father with the length and size of his grandfather.

The whites leave a bit to be desired, but you have to start somewhere.

Same here on Clyde. I'm 5'11" and he comes above my knees as well. I'm hoping to get the same with his grandson, but we can only hope. I can tell his great-grandson is going to be a HUGE bird. Green as a gourd too!

I would love to see photos of your Langshans! Any and all! Please feel free to post the photos on the Langshan Thread as well so that we can keep "new blood" looking and admiring these fine fowl!

I know bantams, but I wish I could tell you in largefowl. I happened upon my own whites. I got them for a STEAL, but I would contact Dick Horstman. He bought out all of the white Langshan bantams from Superior Farms. He might know of someone that has largefowl? If not him, there is a man in Arkansas that has Langshans, he purchased from Superior Farms and Forrest Beauford directly. I can't for the life of me remember his name! I'll have to look in the Heritage Thread and see if I can find it.
