Me, too! Definitely the newbies tend to get shunned, except by a few. What really hurts is when you're new to chickens and you need help with concerning things: like bloody stools, etc. and then nobody responds. It's disheartening.

I just got on here today and This is the first post I read. I am proud that you spoke up. People do not realize sometimes how it feels when no one answers. Especially a cry for help. I do believe that it is best if people check the Unanswered Posts first. I know that for people who work outside the home at a place where they arent allowed to get on the internet, it is hard to be on here and enough to get the number of posts that others have. I also know that people who are posting on here for the first time look at the number of posts and think that "gee that person has an extreme amount of knowledge, they have been on here forever". When sometimes I think it is just because they can sit at the computer off and on all day or just be on the computer all day everyday. I know that for myself, I dont like knowing I may have inadvertantly did something like that. ESPECIALLY not when I have to deal with high school at work

hey jackie-long time no see (I have only been able to check on the emergency forum occasionally and just by accident saw this post really as I rarely hit the "show recent posts" button... dealing with several major RL issues and have so little time at the moment... sigh)
I suppose this just proves it as I clicked to read as I saw it was you who had posted and I hadn't seen any posts from you in such a long time nor caught you in chat.

Hi Jackie, I like your avatar! I'm getting ready to go to work right now, so I can't say much, but, you don't stink. It stinks in my son's room though cuz the puppy went poop in there and he is out of town. So when I get home from work today, guess I gotta shampoo the carpet, yikes!!

I love turkeys!!!! I would love to hear about them.

Thanks everyone! You see I have been here over a year so I'm not so new.

I have learned to just quit posting because I feel like I just get eye rolls.

I think it has to do with your subject line about stinking! I clicked to see what you had to say because I thought it sounded funny. No eye rolls here!

I have posted a few times and got few responses. Disappointed? Yes but not discouraged. I read more than I post unless there is a topic I feel I can say something intelligent on (doesn't happen often, lol). Sometimes posts get buried and it may help to post a new reply to your topic to "bump" it back up so people can see it. Don't give up!

I know this is not suppose to be funny - but you did get my attention. I have thought the same thing so often that I had to laugh. It took a while but I realized that I am a on again off again member. I may check here 40 times in one day - and post all 40 times and then flit away for a day or two. Its really not personal - its just that as with everything else there are clicks and people who post daily, chat and email each other. For months I was a regular on a couple of topics and knew everyone posting and we had fun, all my post were read and responded to. Then, I went off into one of my broody, grumpy moods and came back a week later to a whole bunch of new people whom I did not know. I felt just like a new member again.
It just happens. Don't give up. We all really love each other.

I tend to get more hatching, meat and recipe questions so I am in those forums more than any others. Some forums I never even look at. Some things are not to my interest and not enough time in the day to get to them. Sorry, I can't read and respond to every thread. I hit the highlights a couple times a day.

Jackie,
I too have noticed this. I attribute it to a typical community, the more you speak up the more everyone gets to know you, thus the more responses you'll get; generally speaking. I've come to accept that I'm only an occasional poster, so I probably will never get a lot of responses. Still, I post when the mood strikes me and don't take it personally if nothing comes of it. Don't fret, this is a huge community of which I would imagine there is a huge rate of mute or nearly mute members and a small number of those that post with frequency.

If it is something important then it goes in the subject line and it usually elicits a few responses. Or you can put in a truly ridiculous subject line and people will open it just because it so out there. Sometimes I post something like a fun picture or story, then follow it up later whether anyone has read it or not...just because
