Sorry this is a pigeon egg rather than chicken. It was brought into rescue after the nest was accidentally destroyed. I candled and it looks almost ready to hatch - shadow of the chick, clear air cell and I could see strong thick blood vessels. No movement but I only candled very briefly and the egg was a bit colder from being out of the nest.
But the shell is a greyish colour I'd usually associate with rotten eggs about to explode. And now I've noticed an expanding crack with orange fluid leaking out. Is this likely from decomposition or is there any chance something may be alive in there?
