Flip prepared himself for verbal attack. "Yes?" he said, stiffly. "One of SkyHerd's valuable mares - the only pony, or so I believe." He emphasized her importance to the herd on purpose.
"Yes. I'm sure she is just 'breeding' material for you, but she's important to me. She's mine, so if you hurt her, I will hurt you! Just stay away, and I will leave you, and the other mares alone!" Ace replied, ending with a growl.

Flip was taken aback. "Ace," he said, gently, as if he were speaking to Levi, "I don't hurt the mares. They're not breeding material." Here his voice grew stronger. "They're my friends. Does Silver object? No! Does Sienna? No! I protect my mares. They can choose whether or not to give me foals. They can choose what stallion to breed with. But this is my herd, so I call the shots. If Fireshadow came to me asking for Ivy as his mate, I might say yes. If Jet came asking for Twilight, I might say yes, if only to reward him for asking. The stallions can leave at any time. Go to FireHerd or WindHerd. But the mares, if they ask to join SkyHerd, I expect them to stay. If they're unsatisfied and they have a good excuse, I let them go." Flip leaned into Ace's face and pulled back his lip, laying his ears flat against his head. "This is no breeding establishment! This is a group of horses who live together in peace! Except in the last week or so there have been some rebels in the herd." Flip showed Ace his hooves. "See these hooves? They're tipped with iron. Iron! I've killed multiple stallions with my shoes alone. If need be, and need better be, I use my teeth and my kicks. You remember what I've said, colt." Flip sighed and looked back into Ace's eyes, and this time he wore an expression of weariness. "Please," he begged. "I don't want to hurt you. I don't want my mares hurt. I long for peace, like the olden days. I want civilization and sharing and Lil-" Flip stopped abruptly. "Go, now. For your own good, leave Bella alone for a day or so. I've seen many a stallion who came to his death by staying with one mare alone. Sometimes another female would murder him out of pure jealousy. Let that be a warning to you."
With that, Flip turned and galloped up the hills, the setting sun glittering on his frayed tail.
Ace trotted back to Sienna. "So, he didn't technically object to it... If worst comes to worst, then I'll talk to Jet, but for now he's not going anywhere near Bella, and I'm making sure he doesn't... Where is she, I should probably talk to her..." Ace said.
"Could of gone worse, could of gone better." No fighting was involved, and he is staying away from Bella?" sounds like an ok temp. arrangement." I think Bella was at the Willow Tree last I checked.", Sienna said, complacently.
Standing up from her pain under the tree, Dahlia whinnied, "May I come, Ace?" The mare was looking as beautiful as ever, no matter how swollen her pregnant belly was.
