Mods- please move to "Geese"?- Growing Goslings!

Oh goodness! I'm all oogley eyed!

I want my goose back... Poor girl. I think she died of loneliness and a broken heart. I was trying to find her a man-goose!

these are probably the most recent photos i have, due to all the rain last week i wasn't out with the camera much. they are still as fun as ever. a bit spoiled i think in comparison to other farm fowl. they still love being around people and are still very friendly and curious. weekly they are honking more and more, and really loudly if the "person of the moment" happens to be out of their sight for too long. otherwise everyone in the family is now favoring the geese above my other fowl due to the fact that they are very entertaining. i love it when they go crazy in the creek diving under water and shooting through it like bullets, and then doing their little flappy wing splash the people with the water antics.

p.s. the grass has been mowed since these photos-getting the geese out and about took priority over mowing that day!

I love your pics! Long grass doesn't bother me at all- the geese love to eat it too! I had to really search for this thread...its in Ducks and it should be in the Geese section. Can it be moved to the right one by a moderator please?
Mine are all the same size now, and get along great. They are so much fun. I have to get new pics to show you, but Penny is all gray and beautiful. The other 5 are white. One (Paco) is all white with no gray. They other guys are white with gray saddles. If they are girls, I'll be very surprised. Their color is right for boys, but not girls. They are honking loudly now and running around with those big wings out stretched...so funny!

so, you think the newer/younger ones are likely males?? oh my.... and they are all the same size now too??? wow! i wonder how much larger these geese are going to get, they surely can't be around the adult size at almost 3 months or are they??? i would love to see new photos-i really enjoy your photographs because they are nice! i'm still subsribed to this post, so it comes to my regular e-mail when a new post is made...i cannot imagine having to search for it...i'd get so into other posts too! do you still have all your rhode island reds too?

nope, I freecycled them to a guy who lives down the road from me. He's got all kinds of poultry too, and rides his bike by our house frequently. He knew right where we were and came right away on Mother's Day to pick them up. Glad to have them gone. I've got too many young chicks of all ages and they were roos that I didn't want. As it is, I've got too many future Roos of the breeds I do want.
I'll take pics of my goosey goose family soon. Its spitting rain outside now. I do think they are pretty much full sized now...I think I had read that somewhere they are full grown by 3 months old. Please correct me if I'm wrong -anyone?
They are so funny- I talk, then they answer me, if they honk, I call back and they all start going crazy honking back. Its just too much fun!

I know ducks are almost full-sized by 3-4 months, but they do fill out and grow a little more after that. Maybe geese are the same way. I was told that Rouen ducks aren't full sized until a year and a half and mine is already a monster at 3 months!

I don't know about how long it takes geese to mature, but, assuming since they can live well beyond twenty years of age, I'd say they aren't fully mature for a couple of years. My experience and research is so very limited compared to most of the other people here...

They love it out there when they can run around and the sun is shining. I do too!

Cute!!!

My ducks want to be out all the time too. The babies aren't big enough to hang out with the older ducks yet. One more week and I should be able to integrate.

LOVE the pictures-too cute doing the goosey stuff! well, since you placed the rhodies-when are you getting your sebbies?(you'll have more room???)(hope i'm not encouraging your goose addiction too much) looks like the flock gets along well-and your girl definately stands out! mine have been really enjoying this grey weather-and fresh water in the creek!!!
