Mohawk chick!! Broody caused or? PICS! (graphic)

Momma and babies are fine. Not sure how mohawk chick is doing right now but s/he is still alive - I took it out today to re-apply the bluekote and momma gave me the puff up hairy eyeball until I put it back.

So I'm pretty sure this injury is not her doing. I think the little guy must have been scalped trying to get out of the egg. One eye is still closed.

ETA: Went out to check on them and mom isn't too happy about me poking around trying to look at the babies.

Just wanted to update. Mohawk and mom are doing well! They are harder to get good pics of since momma will poof up and give me the broody glare but here's a few shots to show that Mohawk and his blu-Kote are doing just fine!!

I had a hen that hatched chicks and the same thing happened - it was another jealous broody hen that was trying to steal the chicks out of the nest.

I think she just looks really tired and pale in the pics - but she was on the nest for over four weeks - she just HAD to hatch something!
