Moldy feed

I have started a Black soldier fly larvae bin, and have been giving them some moldy rabbit feed that I have. They love it! And, in turn, the larvae will feed my chickens once they process out and digest all the bad stuff! It's a good way to still feed your chickens without directly feeding them the moldy stuff, not to mention the compost they also leave behind!

I opened a bad of layer feed and some of the pellets have mold fuzz on them and it smells bad. Will this still be ok to feed to the chickens? Can I give a little here and there so it wont go to waste but mostly give them clean new ones? Its not super moldy but I understand if its dangerous

NO please DO NOT give it to your flock it can kill/poison them take the bag back to where ever you got it from and throw a fit

Yes! Throw a fit, that is great advise, seriously, LOL, I love that!

Also, if I can't return it, do you know if it would be good for compost?

When I added moldy chicken feed to a worm bin it heated up the bin and the worms fled (integrated into the ground so they can come and go as they please) and Black Soldier flies dropped off their larvae in a day or less. I personally do not care which one I have in the bin so not an issue with me, both do great composting but the Black Soldier Fly Larvae are loved by chickens, I would reach down and grab hand fulls of it and drop them in a bucket of water to clean them then strained them and fed them to my chickens. So in a way I turned bad feed into good live feed for the chickens... some chickens will eat worms but all Chickens with eat Black Soldier Fly Larvae.

I don't mean like a 2yo maybe fit is the wrong word but give them what for. For selling you moldy feed
