Molt/butchering

As anyone else noticed their birds molting earlier this year? not to mention that the leaves seem to be turning and some falling already.

My henhouse looks like I had several fox attacks in it, feathers, feathers everywhere.

I was planning on butchering my 28 month old white rocks layers the weekend of Columbus day (when I ususally cull my older layers) but I may have to put it off a while. Nothing worse in my experinece any way then cleaning a chicken during molt.

I don't want to skin.

Some of my hens are molting now too. Not sure why, but I too have seen the early signs of Fall.
