Well, she smells AWFUL, and I’m afraid if I opened her up I would puke.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, it's a sad part of the farming world....over the past 20 years I've had to deal with dozens of unexplained illnesses and deaths, and that's through having probably thousands of different chickens... Where she laying eggs prior could have been some kind of egg binding infection thing going on.... Unfortunately the only way to get a better idea is to perform an autopsy... But hey it's not necessary.....
