Molting in November????

BR is losing feathers in November, I can't believe it!!!She has diarrea and must be really cold in 40 degree weather.Is there anything I can do to help her?

Sometimes a bird will poop something watery, and THAT is normal. However, if she's ONLY pooping diarrhea, with no solid poop as well, I'd separately feed her high quality probiotic, like a live-culture plain yogurt, to give her gut the bacterial balance it needs to produce solid poop.

If your coop is adequately insulated for the weather or you're providing some heat, and you're giving her enough protein in her feed, she should be able to endure a molt outside -- if she isn't sick. But if you think she's sick, I'd bring her inside to give her a non-drafty warm place and try to figure out what's wrong and help her recover.

I have several birds molting now or that starting in the beginning of November.. and I have a couple yet to still molt.

I have a BR that just started molting the past few days. Her molt seems to be much different than my RR and Ast. She drops tons of feathers where ever she goes. I recently picked her up and it seemed like she lost half of her feathers at once while I held her! Our other 3 birds only lost handfuls here and there. The unfortunate thing is that we live in Maine and it's almost December. Our nights have already dipped below freezing.

I have 2 birds molting right now. One is a white leghorn hen and she just looks terrible. I seen all the white feathers and thought a hawk got her in the backyard! I also have a mixed banty pullet molting right now.

I have two Sussex's that did a fast molt in September-October - all fluffed back up again.
I have a Marans that started in September one or three feathers here or there , October she was
naked between the legs, November she began losing the long wing feathers - she replaces feathers
but what a long slow molt!

A neighbour has a banty cross that loos like a pillow fight explosion when you pick her up.... feather float off her everywhere.
She has lots of great new pin feathers so she'll be done quickly and fluffy again.

My birds have never molted the way you discribe it...they have never look scragely or bare...they are silkies and are always fuzzy...I have many different ages from a year and a half to 8 weeks old... and have never seen a fuzzless bird...I do find an occational feather in the yard and sometimes more than a few but no one has ever looked scrawny...

two of my ee's are molting heavily right now. I feel bad for them, they are so funny looking.
There are lots of quills on both however and I keep telling them that they are going to be gorgeous in a couple of weeks.

My Barred EE, Panda, just blew her entire plumage a couple days ago. And man, is she grumpy! She's usually very friendly, but has had a complete personality change. Guess it doesn't feel so good to be naked in the cold.
