I have used wooden eggs. They don't have to be fertile duck eggs.
I wonder if golf balls will work. Thanks for the idea. I will give her something to sit on.While it is not a universal practice, I have found that if my runners insist on being broody, I just let them sit on wooden eggs. They still get up and eat and drink and run around a little, but they sit. And they seem healthier and more calm over all.
After a few weeks, they call it done, leave the nest, and move on.
