What will that do for her? Will she just give up after awhile? Or will they make her happier?

While it is not a universal practice, I have found that if my runners insist on being broody, I just let them sit on wooden eggs. They still get up and eat and drink and run around a little, but they sit. And they seem healthier and more calm over all.

After a few weeks, they call it done, leave the nest, and move on.

I wonder if golf balls will work. Thanks for the idea. I will give her something to sit on.
I took her out today and she stayed longer than any day recently. She even took a dip in the pond. But she quacked non-stop. Very funny behavior.
As you probably can tell I'm new to ducks.

What a beautiful duck and pond, sounds like she is getting over the grieving process. Hope you can find her a friend soon.

She still spends more time in the nest than before but things are looking up.
Still don't have a duck. I am thinking about ducklings but it will be so long before they can be with her.
Right now she keeps quacking at my chickens. They are not bothered by this, just go about their business.
I did start her on the vitamin water too.
