Molting Question

One of my hens started molting will that trigger all of them to molt or do they just go on their own cycle?

My hens usually molt at different times. Occasionally a couple will molt around the same time during the fall.

Thanks, I was hoping that is why my Americanas are not laying. They are 9 months. They layed good for about 2 weeks and then they just quit. They don't have mites, or worms. They are well feed and have plenty of water and space. No sign of egg eaters. Does anyone have any suggestions to kick start them laying again?

I too have a molting question. Is it normal for hens to molt at 3-4 months of age? They still have tons of feathers (under the outer feathers) that have the outer covering still on them. I was not sure if they were loosing "Baby" feathers to make way for adult feathers, or if we have an issue.

I have heard that is normal. They don't lose them all I guess they are just getting rid of baby feathers.
