Molting question

I read and seen some pics here of molting chickens that where almost bald. Do they all molt the same way. I went through the 13 week molt, feathers every where but no bald spots. Do they ever molt in the winter? If so how do you keep the pour things from freezing to death? Some pics where just pitiful. John

Different chickens (not just different breeds, but different chickens within a breed) molt differently. Some go almost bald, while others are hardly noticeable.

I've never really noticed them molting in the dead of winter, but so long as you keep them out of the draft they should be fine.
