molting

My hens are nearly a year old and they have not gone through molting. When should I expect this? We did artificial lighting during the winter months to maintain egg production.

If they were hatched in the normal hatch months (March-June), chickens usually molt in the late summer or early fall. If they were hatched earlier or later, the molt is usually delayed to late fall early winter.

They were hatched last May and they did some feathers in late summer, but nothing that looked like a molt.

They're right on track. May chicks don't usually molt their first summer because they've already gone through 4 molts.
