molting?

I have two Buff orphington hens that have not molted in almost two years. They have both fadded to a dull orange but that is it . One of the girls went broody and hatched five chicks she was a great mother. So when will they lose there feathers?

Are you SURE that they just don't grow new feathers first then lose the old one that are on top?

That is what my Buff Orps seem to do...

they dont lose them all at once.it is gradual.i dont know the exact order but the last ones mine grew back were head and neck feathers.

I have seen chickens molt hard and fast: nekkid things look miserable. I would be inclined to not brood any of their eggs as this drastically would decrease their survival rate where and how our chickens live... Our current chickens have slooowly been molting for several weeks now.
