molting

one of my coops I have 7 white leghorn mix hens. in the last few days I am noticing a lot of feathers in the coop and also they have slowed up on laying. I am wondering if they may be starting to molt. if they are starting to molt , how long does the molt normally last ?

In my experience, a molt usually lasts 2 months or so. Some of mine go through it faster (4-6 weeks), and others take even longer. Drop in egg production is normal before a molt. You may not see it come back again until a few weeks after the molt is complete.
