Mom was carrying egg that was partially cracked open

I caught my Muscovy duck carrying one of her eggs. when I caught up to her she had put it down and was pecking it. I can see the duck is alive and is chirping. The eggs are do to hatch this Thursday. What can I do to save it?

Here is a photo of it. I put a damp paper towel over it.

I'd keep a damp paper towel on it and put it back under the mom. That's a pretty big crack. I'm not sure if that baby is going to make it.

I just tried putting it back under mom. She immediately tried to take it out again.

I think the main things are you've got to keep it moist and give it time to absorb. I've had the same thing happen here with poor survival rates.

I know someone had the same type of thing happen with their Muscovy mom and they wrapped the egg with a wet paper towel and put it under a heat lamp. Their duckling died, but the crack was bigger on the egg.

Thanks for the responses. The duckling is still alive in the egg!! Hoping that it makes it through the night!
