Hi. First time chicken owner here. One of my four chickens looked like she had a prolapse. At least that’s what I found it be from looking online. There was poop attached to some innards coming out of her vent. There was also some white stringy stuff dripping out of her vent. She was behaving and eating like normal. I ofcourse freaked out and called my husband. By the time he caught her so we can check her, it had gone back to normal and vent was perfectly fine. I’ve been monitoring her every 3 hours but I just don’t know if this can just resolve itself? If there was poop there, is she maybe clogged? We’ve had 3 eggs daily and I’m not sure if one is taking a break or if she’s stop laying because of this. I appreciate any advise. Thank you so much.

Can you get a clear picture of that area?

Have you seen her poop since this happened?

What exactly do you feed your flock on a regular basis?
And how old are your birds?

Hi. No, by the time we chased her around, her insides had gone back in. She has laid eggs and pooped normally since then and it hasn’t happened again. They are 1.5 years old and they eat organic pellet layer feed and kitchen scraps.
