Monitor Coop almost done! Ventilation Question

By close it off what do u mean? Any pics?
Put something solid up where the rain is coming thru.

Monitor roofs are usually closed off at the gable ends.

The Suntop roofing is quite flimsy...any suggestions on how to brace it to the gables? (Btw...are those the front and back areas where it is so open?)

You need structural support under roofing of any kind.

Here's one way to add it at right angles to the joists:

Since you already have the ridge beam extending out you might be able to sister an extension at the bottom of the slope instead.

What are the actual measurements of the vents in the monitor?

He's going to try and get up there this afternoon if it doesn't rain and add wood to the lower area as circled here on this side as well as oppositeside...I'll get him to measure then.

So son-in-law finally got back around to the coop today...we are almost finished - thank God! The 8 babies are 4 weeks old and getting quite restless in the brooder in garage!
So the ventilation on 2 sides of monitor roof is about 7" high x 4' length then 2 sides below that is about 4" high x 4' length on 2 sides as well. The "A" frame area is closed up quite a bit with the exception of roughly a 8" triangle on both sides of the monitor now.
He did a hose pipe test to see if we had any leaks and it seems to be working well! And daughter said it was considerably warmer when inside than when outside so that is good too!
You think i have enough ventilation?
For now I will just have the 8 babies inside new coop area until I get the coop enclosed with the hardware cloth to the run where the older 3 silkies are with their pre-fab coop.
I'll try to get pics tomorrow...too dark now.

So here are the updated pics...we will definitely be adding a hardware cloth door on front and back come spring...but for now hoping this has enough ventilation for winter.
