A l m o s t finished!
This monitor roof coop is patterned after @3KillerBs past coop - awesome design btw!
My son-in-law is makin a great effort at building this thing with little construction skills and only pics n drawings to go by...no plans - so don't look too close.

My question is regarding the ventilation - specifically for winter.
The roof obviously isn't on yet...but the entire coop is 9.5'x4' and approximately 7' or 8' tall. The area on the monitor will be open on front and back ends as well as on the sides which is roughly 8"x4' ...unsure of the front and back measurements at this time. It will have hardware cloth securing this area as well. I had read on another post that the high areas should be covered during winter...but I thought that would be defeating my monitor roof purpose.
Here are a few pics...one from inside the 10'x20' run as well as the most recent from last night showing more construction.
(Yeah the run isn't level - thanks hubby! But will fix that come spring)

Thank yall for your patience and understanding as I learn!

Oh thank u! I'm super excited! And have 4 pipped eggs in incubator and a broody silkie too! So expansion is in high demand!
They are all bantam silkies so the roosts will only be about 6" or so off floor.
Will I need any additional ventilation for winter specifically? We are in middle Tennessee close to Kentucky line.
The guideline is 1 square foot of ventilation per bird. You should be fine if you have that much. Chickens struggle more in the cold than in the heat!

You need structural support under roofing of any kind.

Here's one way to add it at right angles to the joists:

Since you already have the ridge beam extending out you might be able to sister an extension at the bottom of the slope instead.

What are the actual measurements of the vents in the monitor?
He's going to try and get up there this afternoon if it doesn't rain and add wood to the lower area as circled here on this side as well as oppositeside...I'll get him to measure then.

So here are the updated pics...we will definitely be adding a hardware cloth door on front and back come spring...but for now hoping this has enough ventilation for winter.

Ok thank u!!! I hadn't moved em just yet.
I'll put the temp/humidity gauge in there today to get a better feel for what it is inside.
That should give you the most accurate answer as to if what you have works for ventilation.

My guess is you should be good to get through winter, and when weather improves you can look into adding more ventilation. Like I'd see if it was possible to maybe top hinge the panel you put over the triangle up top, so you can take advantage of the ventilation you had there, while still keeping some weather protection.

No, the high areas should not be covered during winter- just make sure that they are high above the roosts.
This is looking fabulous so far!
