By the way, we lost another chicken, also during the day. Our stunningly pretty Ameraucauna roo, Diego, dissapeared without a trace. He was a pain, and I'm glad that if we had to lose one it was a rooster, not a hen, (we have way too many roos) but we're still sorry he's gone and hope he didn't suffer. He and his two brothers ran in a group together and beat up every roo they didn't like, also gang raped any hen they could catch. Usually the roos will make an effort at defending the flock if it's something not too intimidating, like, say, a cat...so....must've been intimidating enough to make everybody run, b/c he wouldn't have been anywhere by himself, the others would've been close by. Life is chaos right now but we will be ordering a camera soon. ( I know, I keep saying that, but I do mean it)
