Month old Dark Brahma ....... gender?

That's pretty much what I thought when I noticed he had pure black feathers coming in. Nothing like the 15 pullets I had last, nor the 8 pullets he's with. So bummed, don't really know what I'm going to do with him yet. Thanks everyone for the confirmation! I guess I'll just take it one day at a time & see how everyone gets along, otherwise someone will be dinner!

This years group of dark brahma chicks are colored quite interestingly! There's one pullet that has a very light colored head, & another that has a very dark colored head when compared to the "normal" looking dark brahma chicks. Makes me wonder if there was some accidental cross breeding going on at the breeding farm ..... last year I got an araucana/dark brahma cross ..... she's a little smaller than the rest, has a slight red tint, feathers on the feet, & lays colored eggs!

A few of this years 9:

The dark headed pullet with the now known roo & another pullet.

The pullet with the lighter head, one that wouldn't hold still, & the one with the darker head.

Uno - we thought she only had one eye, but Vetericyn healed her up!

Yup I was absolutely 100% wrong on that one..

So my little Roo is now about 2 months old ..... & he's a looker! Hard to think about getting rid of him when he's so dang pretty ........
