More about mites. Please Any Info. will Help!

You might want to try mixing some mineral oil with a bit of tea tree oil and painting it on the roosts. Dipping my feathered friends leggs in that mix was the only thing that finally got rid of thier leg mites. Would imagine it would do the same for your roosts. Not to mention its completly safe!

Another thought is to use a product called Orange guard. Its a natrual cleaner. I found it at Ace Hardware, thought Im sure other places have it.

Good luck with your mite problem! Ive been there and can feel your pain!
Hugs!

I use ivomec eprinex on my birds twice a year works great. I also spray orange guard on the roosts and in the nest boxes. Then sprinkle de in the sand & hay in the coop. I've never had a problem with mites. I did buy two silkie chicks from someone and had them in a cage by themselves. Thank goodness I did because they had mites when I checked them. I used the ivomec on them then 10 days later reapplied it and did a check again a week later and they were gone. I also sprayed their cage down twice a week with the orange guard.

info in the ivomec

If you fumigate the hen house by burning powdered cheyehnne(?) pepper in it , there is no chemicals for you , or your girls for that matter, to have to worry about. Obviously the birds, can't be in coop when you do this, but who dusts their birds in the coop?
