Hi! The silkie feathering gene is funny to me.
The first generation cross of a silkie-feathered bird to a pure regular-feathered bird will always be regular-feathered.
You can take a regular feathered bird from that cross and breed it back to another regular-feathered bird from another Silkie cross and get a % of silkie-feathered chicks.
I don't know how to explain it *genetics-wise*, but it's been hard for me to get rid of silkie-feathering while trying to keep other characteristics I want.
If you breed silkie-feathered to silkie-feathered, you should always get silkie feathered.
If you breed naked neck to feather neck, you should get half feather neck, half naked neck.

And by the way...
There are some chicken necks that are created *JUST PERFECT* --- the rest are off a bit and should be covered with feathers.
