It was definitely soft shell material not shavings.I honestly have no clue. Theres been instances where the chicken will let an egg without a shell, but this I have not seen before... maybe shes eating the wet shavings you have? I know my chickens sometimes do that
I'm really sorry, I dont know what's going on with your chicken. This is one of the craziest things I've seen and trust me, I've seen a lot. @A_Fowl_Guy might know, he's helped me out beforeIt was definitely soft shell material not shavings.
16%..they get a mash of their crumble, mealworms and what ever fruits and veggies I have in the fridge..they dont get any treats until they come out of coop and eat crumble firstA few questions:
How old is the bird?
What percentage protein are you feeding?
What treats are you feeding?
The blob was soft, I did cut into it. The other girls are laying like clockwork! Yes that is the other egg. She actually had an issue with a few shell less eggs last summer and was not herself and i was going to get her checked out . The day i was taking her in she perked up and layed a perfect egg and had no further issuesThis is the other weird egg?:

Your other birds are laying OK?
If so, then it's probably not diet related.
Did you cut the white blob in half?
Hard to tell if that is membrane material or sloughed tissue or infection.
Not sure what to think other than 'that bird has some serious plumbing issues'.
It can be really hard to diagnose, let alone treat, a wonky reproductive system.
I've had a couple 'lemon' layers.
