I'm sorry that you lost one. I hope your other baby emerges soon.

I was wrong...it was abouit 10:40 am when it externally pippied...how long before it should start showing some progress?

I am not 100% positive I lost it but I am 80 % positive...what if i open the bator and crack the air cell to double check.?>??

Well I opened the other egg that was no longer moving...and it pains me to say it was dead...I am 1/2 sad and 1/ 2 angry because when I opened it thru the air cell...its neck was tucked under its wing but the beak was on teh other side of the egg......so it was like topsy turvy...if it were turned around then it would have pipped....its soooo freakin sad...I wish I could have helped it but even if I had opened the air cell I would have had to reach in and unfold its neck to bring its head where it needed to be....it was trying so hard...i remember seeing it stretch and stretch the air cell but I was wondering why it wasn't pipping the air cell yet...well its because what I was seeing was the fold of the neck...what did I do wrong?

why does this happen...?? whats the reason for them pointing the wrong way..just so I can avoid it if it's my fault..

It's not your fault, all babes make a difficult journey and as unfortunate & incomprehensible as it is to us not all who begin get to complete the trip. It's frustrating and sad to lose one so close to the finish. My first artificial incubation experience was with geese some twenty-six years ago-three eggs, two of which reached full development but never got out of the shell. That left it's mark. It was many years before I had the heart to try again. Don't give up. Be strong for your little one struggling out of the egg. I'm still sending you good wishes & hopes.

Thank you....I appreciate the kind thoughts...I didn't think I 'd be that upset..but I actually kind of was.... especially since it was something so simple...to spin around about a couple inches and maybe it would have hatched...oh well I guess.....I will be getting a gosling either way...the one hatching now and the one due the end of this month are my last tries...after that if none hatch...I'll just be buying some...then I can try when they lay (for free

Carin I know how excited you were so sorry this happened to you.

I've had this happen where their heads are on the small end of the egg and they hatched out despite it so it could be there was something wrong with the one you had.
When we artificially incubate eggs alot of things can go wrong and there are soooo many variables, one could never know what they did wrong or if it was just Mother Nature.
Better luck next time.
Has the other one hatched out yet?

The other one is half way zipped....in only 2 hours...its knocking it out fast...if it stays at this rate, it might be here by noon or so.....

I have seen thru the holes and I thought it might be a girl because I saw "black" lookin feathers (which would be the gray) but as it turns I am seeing more yellow...so, we'll see when it gets here...but not even then...I think I have to wait until it dries because I've seen some on here that look gray while wet but then yellow up as they dry....

so it like stopped zipping and is now pushing...I think it cracked a piece too big and had nothing to leverage against to rotate...because it's still only about 1/2 way zipped...but all the pushing it's doing has caused hairline fractures on the other sides of the top of the egg...so I think eventually he/she will come out....

NOW MY BIG QUESTION:

I have been so preoccupied on getting to this point....what do I do when it gets here???
