Itty bitty eggs....you bet I am ready!! I have been waiting on them, lol.

I have no idea what the deal is with these ducks, but I know they are 10 times harder to raise then my chickens. I just hatched 8 happy healthy LB and they are super cute!!

Never been a duck person. Had them, played with them, but just wasn't into them enough to want them as a 'growed up'.
Same way with geese.
Being imprinted on and followed was cool for a while. But water birds are just... icky.

The millies weren't very fertile initially, then weren't very viable. Not sure what changed: weather? maturity? diet?
Last batch had a 90% hatch rate, though, and that was without being turned often enough due to the ex's funeral and the aftermath chore of settling the estate.
Was going to send you the next set but Mystery went broody and took possession of them. My first broody, had to indulge her

So, collecting for YOU now. Gotta get you back to the chicken addition and wean you off of quack

This is my first and only attempt at ducks. After my next batch....I am done. I have some ASB duck eggs coming and I love them. They are little and don't make near a mess that the bigger ones do. I am excited to finally get some itty bitty eggs from you!!

I'm having the same problems with my baby ducks, I've had them for 3 weeks now, kept them inside in a pet carrier( they were hatched outside)....then I moved them outside in the carrier...bedding of shavings changed daily...then we put them in a bigger wire cage outside with roof.. doing well, drinking lots of water eating well...
went out yesterday morning at 10;00 to refill water and feed, doing fine, went out at 12:30. 4 ducks were dead.
only 2 surviving, fed and watered last night, were fine this morning, went out at 6:00 this evening to fill water, 45 minutes later 1 duck is dying with what seems to be like a neurological issue, head back, flipping around..
Can't figure out what caused it all of a sudden, when they were doing so well and gaining weight,
even let them swim a bit in a clean small trough. I just can't figure it out........

That's such a shame, so sorry , have you been giving them niacin along with their feed? niacin deficiency can cause weak legs and neurological problems. you say you had 2 before this one became ill how is it doing?
