a valley; by a brook.
When RIR chicks first feather up is the depth of their colour an indicator of the colour of the bird as an adult. I've been making red orps from an initial outcross to an exhibition RIR some years ago. I was late breeding this colour this season. All of the parents were pretty dark, though not as dark as the intial rhodie. I'm finding some of the chicks are feathering up rather light & some much darker. Will the light coloured chicks be lighter coloured adults & the darker chicks the darkest adults? Just wanted to be sure before I cull the light coloured youngsters. Thanks.

I have some that will darken up with age. After the first good molt they should darken all so.
If you have some dark birds with the body that you are looking for there going to be the one to hold on to...
