I have one RIR and 2 Golden comets and got 4 eggs today. The comets starting laying just over a week ago. Is it possible one of them laid 2?

Not sure how I got a 4th egg then. I collect my eggs everyday and had 3 the day prior. My broody's babies were only 4 days old then.

Years ago this phenomenon would occur in our chicken house. If you observe them closely, you’ll notice that each hen according to when she began laying lays at a different time each day. The time is about 20 minutes later for each hen. So it is probably a hen laid early in the day on a longer than usual daylight day and then cycled through her next egg late in the day.
it is possible a late laid egg was missed and she laid early the next morning.
Best to you!
Regards…
