Do peafowl have much value as meat or egg poultry? Or are they pretty much ornamental? Would there be any agricultural purpose in raising them?

as far as i know they have no value except ornamental and in my opinion they are a waste of time and money unless you just want something pretty to roam around the yard

In China peacock meat is considered capable of regenerating blood ...THE Myth: wild meat is better than domestic meat.
They make big farms .... it's fashionable!

They talk about farm 80,000 birds.
They are hungry the Chinese .... or they are very .... very sick!

they can have the scrawney things ill take a nice fat juicey hen over those any day

I just raise mine for fun. I have always been attracted to peafowl since I was little and saw them at the zoo. You can eat their eggs but of course they don't lay all year round. Few people really eat them but you can. I would find it hard to eat one of mine.

Some people hate them because of the noise they make, etc. I really love them. They are the only bird I have but as far as agricultural I am not sure. I just raise them as a hobby because they give me joy and have helped me relax after a long day at college. They are mainly just eye candy but some people do very well selling them while others say you can't get very far selling peafowl. You can sell their feathers and use their feathers to make jewelry and other crafts.

This is Peep. He is my imprinted bird.

Ice - Blackshoulder peahen displaying.

Peacock back scale feathers. Peafowl are just pretty to stare at and to watch. I really love them.

Alto my oldest male displaying.

FYI peas are not scrawny unless you are not feeding them proper, if you would like to see one dressed out showing their meat i can post a photo for you of one of mine, if i can figure out how to put a warning.

I sell their feathers to hobbyist and fly tiers
