Thank you everyone. She has just passed away.

She was vaguely aware I was there. I have her 2ml fluids (her crop was almost empty). She then did a poop - quite runny and very smelly. She then looked at me, her eye filled with tear (never seen that before) and she did a big shake and died.

I did not aspirate her. She simply gave up.

I did what I could. I hate losing any of them. Hard to reconcile that this time just 2 days ago, she was absolutely fine....

Thank you everyone. ❤️

Understand that organ failure involves the heart shutting down, and that causes the domino effect of the respiratory system shutting down. And the liver is shutting down and fluids are building up in her tissues along with toxins. There is no chance of reversing this. But the decision rests entirely with you as to whether you want to wait another day or two to see if there might be some improvement. When you see no improvement, but further decline instead, you will know that the end is inevitable.

I'm sorry for your loss. I understand your sentiment. We lost a chicken last week within 2 hours. She was fine and frolicking one minute and deceased three hours later. When it hits out of the blue it's like a sucker punch in the face and the gut. :hugs

Wow. Sorry for your loss. That is sudden. You have my sympathies - it's hard to get your head around.

Other than a fox attack, all mine except my beautiful Scarlett have deceased over many days or weeks. You reminded me about Scarlett. She was fine when we went out to church and then dead when we came home. I guessed a heart attack as she was absolutely fine. I've always consoled myself that she didn't suffer at least.

Thank you for your very kind comment. ❤️

Good grief.....

I just put the others to bed and as I checked them, I found one had just laid a lash egg. Only about the size of a large grape bit still, it's yet another thing. Couldn't tell who it was from but it was next to the one whose feet are being treated. I doubt it's her but it could be. It's one thing after another and, just like buses, you wait ages, then three turn up at the same time.

I'm certainly being hit with things at the moment. Please God it calms down.....
