What a nightmare. Back in November, we applied for Mortgage Relief through our mortgage company. I sent them all of the paperwork that they asked for and it was ALOT. Two weeks later, they sent a request for more documentation, some of it duplicated from what I had already sent. No problem, I did it.

Then we sat back to wait for some news.

Last week, we were still waiting but you know how these things are. We figured they were working with hundreds of other families and we were far down the waiting line.

But, DH got a little antsy and so we called to check on the status.

I was informed that after I sent the paperwork, I should have called every 2 weeks to see if anything needed to be updated or added to our packet for the application process. Scuse Me? I read the fine print and no where in there did it tell me to call every 2 weeks.

Apparently, you have to keep your documentation current even though your file isnt even in review yet. So if you file in November and they dont review your packet until March, you need to send them all of your paperwork every month.

So, I started gathering paperwork again to send them but before I could get it sent in, I got a notice of foreclosure due to non-compliance....

You can not even be serious!!

I am going to be ill.............................

I think it's a carrot that was dangled in front of people for a program that, as far as I can tell, doesn't really exist. My son tried, for eight months, he's jumped through hoops, only to be told that he could have a reduced payment for 3 months, but that was all. Same with my other son. No dice.

YEP! We were 3 months behind and got denied because we used our tax refund to get current LOL!!!!! I'm STILL laughing at the stupidity!! We called every week......

ETA: IT MAY BE A BLESSING IN DISGUISE! MY BIL ACTUALLY GOT THE ASSISTANCE AND THEN WHEN HE WENT BACK TO WORK FOR A SHORT TIME THEY JACKED HIS PAYMENT BACK UP AND BEYOND WHAT HE HAD BEEN PAYING BEFORE!!!!!! Just wanted to warn you! We're planning to sell ours......

It has happened to several people we know. This area is particularly hard hit by this fumbling economy.

What a rip off, Cindy.....I can not imagine how your brother felt when he got slammed with a higher payment. We ought to charge the banks 1000% for borrowing our hard earned money!
